Ministry to buy 257.1 bln rbl foreign currency in Jan 15–Feb 6
MOSCOW, Jan 11 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Finance Ministry will purchase 257.1 billion rubles of foreign currency on the domestic market from January 15 until February 6, spending 15.1 billion rubles a day, the ministry said in a statement Thursday.
In February 2017, the ministry said it entered the currency market to minimize dependence of the ruble rate on oil prices. The ministry wanted to use additional oil and gas revenue of the budget and assured the influence on the ruble quotations would be minimal.
